Al in shock of what Mr. Baumer has done.

Al running, in fright of what he just heard.

Al was kept up late at night. For, he could not get the idea of Mr. Baumer killied someone intentionally off his mind.

Al pondering on what to do during school day..

Mr. Baumer killed Slade?! This..this can’t be, but, the merchandise was right in front of me. “Wood Alcohol” is what it said…did Mr. Baumer really do this…?

"Then ye go home, Al. Is good to know how to read."

“..You know…Slade was our freighter. Mr. Baumer hired him right before Christmas. I just don’t know why Mr. Baumer would do such a thing—I mean yes Slade wronged Mr. Baumer previously, but killing him? I just don’t know what to do Mr. Sheriff.”

Al sharing all his thoughts with the town sheriff.

The mistiness look in his eyes, the look of someone not defeated, the not fighting back, yet he tried over and over to get Slade to pay…I vividly remember prodding Mr. Baumer for more information, but he had become different after he had gotten beat up by Slade the second time.
