  • People have tried to figure out the founding of Rome but none have succeeded. A Latin tribe was the first tribe to move into Rome. Rome is located in Italy and just near the Tiber River. As Rome grew, it was influenced by two of their neighboring cities. They were Greece and the Etruscan's.
  • The Etruscan Influence of Sports
  • There was a myth of two twin brothers, Romulus and Remus. The myth is that the king of the city was paranoid of the twins taking over his throne. With that he ordered his men to drown the twins in the Tiber River. Before the twins could drown, a wolf came to save them. Years later when they have grown up, they made a city but fought over who should be king. Romulus killed his brother Remus and became king. He named the city Rome.
  • The Greek Influence on Architecture
  • Rome has gotten may influences and they also had influences from the Etruscans for building. The two important structures of Etruscan, arches and cuniculus also made it's way into the Roman Empire. Over time as they adapted with them building like Etruscans, they eventually surpassed the Etruscans in building.
  • The Greek Influence of Religion, Art, and Writing
  • Romans had pretty bloody sports like slave fighting. When the slaves master died, the two slaves would fight and the victor would get executed. Another sporting event is chariot racing. A reason why this could be bloody or dangerous is because people's chariot would tip over and they could get their head crushed or get dragged on the floor from the horses.
  • Roman has many Greek influences just how they did with the Etruscans. Romans used Greeks designs on their own public buildings. They eventually used concrete to build larger structures.
  • Rome had many influences from Greek culture like their religion, art, and writing. Rome worshiped gods and goddesses that governed all of Greece. Rome also performed rituals and sacrifices to ensure the gods favors to keep the city healthy and for good harvest. For art Rome they had influences but they also directly. Rome imitated the Greeks pottery , but they made it their own style. Wealthy Romans bought Greek paintings and used it as a model. Romans had a similar writing by using all capital letters and they also carved inscriptions in walls and columns.
