- SAILING FROM TROY
- After a long battle in Troy, Odysseus and his men go on a journey back to Ithaca. Odysseus's archetype here is hero, the hero's journey is The Road Back, and the cultural element is consuming alcohol after celebrations.
- LOTUS EATERS
- After arriving at the island of the Lotus Eaters, some of the crew members eat the Lotus fruit, which causes them to lose all thoughts of home and only long for staying and eating more fruits. Odysseus forces his crew back to the ship and sails away. Odysseus's archetype here is ruler, the hero's journey is Trials, Allies, Enemies, and the cultural element is the natives offering them food.
- CYCLOPS
- When the crew members look around to the island of the Cyclopses, they get trapped inside a cave by the cyclops Polyphemus and have to escape. Odysseus's archetype here is jester, the hero's journey is Trials, Allies, Enemies, and the cultural element is the fury of the gods.
- CIRCE
- During Odysseus and his crew's stay at the Circe's island, Circe turns some of them into pigs and Odysseus has to rescue them. Odysseus's archetype here is hero, the hero's journey is Trials, Allies, Enemies, and the cultural element is gift-giving.
- SCYLLA AND CHARYBDIS
- In order to get back home, the men has to get past the two sea monsters Scylla and Charybdis. Odysseus's archetype here is warrior, the hero's journey is Trials, Allies, Enemies, and the cultural element is personified beings.
- THE CATTLE OF THE SUN GOD
- When Odysseus and his crew members stay at the island of Helios's cattle, the men eat the cattle that they are forbidden to eat and they are killed by the gods except for Odysseus, who drifts to the island of the goddess Calypso. Afterwards, Odysseus escapes and arrives at Ithaca, where Athena helps Odysseus defeat the suitors and get back to his wife. Odysseus's archetype here is outlaw, the hero's journey is the Resurrection, and the cultural element is offerings.
- Odysseus main goal is to go home to Ithaca to be with his wife and son. This is the main motivation for the hero and archetype of the hero's reward; to go home
