We need a more centralized government to fight the Indians!
Nah
I don't want them to be united
THE OHIO RIVER VALLEY FORT DUQUESNE
Both the French and English were major maritime empires. This led to competition between them to dominate fur trade and would be one of the causes of the French Indian War.
BRADDOCK'S BLUNDER (1755)
The Albany Congress of 1754 was a plan to unite the colonies to fight against the French and Native Americans. This was unsuccessful as the British didn't want the colonies to be united and the colonies were scared of losing their power. However this was not complete failure as this was the first proposal to unite the colonies.
NATIVES TAKE SIDES (1758)
The French were afraid of the colonist and British expansion towards the west and built many forts alongside the Ohio River Valley such as Fort Duquesne
BRITISH VICTORY (1763)
General Braddock led 1,500 troops to a French fort and they were ambushed by 200 French and 600 Indians. This was one of Britain's most disastrous defeats as 400 men died including General Braddock and 500 were wounded.
Most of the native tribes backed the French as they lived and traded with them. The Iroquois Confederacy allied with the British in 1758, while the Algonquins, their traditional rivals, backed the French.
British Minister, William Pitt, was able to reconquer and occupy French territories in Canada. The French-Indian War led to the signing of the Peace of Paris which gave them French Canadian territory and Spanish Florida.
