- The Aztecs offended their gods by cutting down a forbiden tree, so the gods instructed them to move south to find a new place they csn call home.

- Their leader Tenoch had a dream. He told his people about the dream, that if they see an eagle carrying a snack on its mouth, that place will be their new home. They walked for a long time and finaly found the eagle. The aztecs settled in the Valley of Mexico on a swampy island in lake texcoco in 1325.
- AZTEC TECHNOLOGY: CAUSEWAYS.
- They named their capital after their leader. It was tenochtitlan meaning "The ciry of Tenoch." THe capital became larger than any city in Europe at 1500 CE.Two aquedacts, each approximatly 3kms long provided the city with fresh water from springs used for farming and bathing.
- VALUED RESOURCES IN AZTEC SOCEITY.
- As the population grew on the island the aztecs needed to develop samll artificial plots of land that floatedaround the island called chinampas. THey used these for growing crops.
- Man-made couseways connected the capital city to the main land. There were three major couseways. Bridges were build into the couseways that allowed small boats and canoes to travel underneath them. These bridges could be removed when the city was being attacked.
- Feathers and gold were valued for their visual propoties in aztec society.These wereoften worn in religous ceremonies by nobility. More valuable than gold and feathers were cocoa beans. The beans were thought to be gifted to humans by a Quetzalcoati, an inmportant aztec god. Cocoa beans were so valuable that they were even used as a form of basic currency in aztec society.
