In this scene Scout is talking to Mrs Maudie her very nice neighbor. They talk about a wide variety of things and including her thoughts on Boo Radley. They also talk about Scout's uncle and Mrs Maudie. Mrs Maudie teaches scout a lesson and shares her wisdom
"His names Arthur and and I know he's still alive"
Mrs. Maudie do you think Boo Radley's still alive?
In this scene Mrs Caroline discovers Scout can read and write already. She confronts Scout and tells her that she can no longer read or write because that does not go with the Dewey decimal system. This upsets Scout a lot and is devastated.
"Besides we don't learn to write in the first grade, we print, we don't write until the third grade"
"Calpurnia is to blame for this."
In this scene Jem, Scout, and Dill are trying to pass a note to Boo Radley through the window. Dill and Scout are on whatch duty and Jem takes a fishing pole and trues to pass it through the window. Dill does not notice atticus until its too late.
