- Hello ! My name is John Dalton
- Hello! Welcome to Meow Interviews Chemist!
- I heard you both made great discoveries. Can you tell me about them? How about you, Mr. Dalton?
- Alright! I'll go first.
- Well, I'm best known for my theory of atomism. As you see, I've always been interested in meteorology, and have studied the constitution, evaporation, and thermal expansion of gasses. Thanks to these studies, I discovered atoms in 1804, and envisioned them as solid hard spheres.
- Ohh! So that's how later scientists came up with atomic neutrons, protons, and electrons!
- Well, I'm known as the Father of the Periodic Table. I formulated the Periodic Law, and created the framework that became the modern periodic table. This happened in 1869.
- Wow!! And what about you, Mr. Mendeleev?
- While I was trying to classify the elements according to their chemical properties, I noticed patterns. I wrote the atomic weights of the elements and I noticed that the behavior of element seem to repeat as their atomic weights increased.
