Obesity is a condition that is characterized by excessive accumulation and storage of fat in your body. If a person's body weight is at least 20% higher than what it should be then they would identify as obese. Issues associated with obesity is High blood pressure, Excess cholesterol, Type 2 diabetes, Heart disease, Stroke, Certain cancers, Breathing problems, Sleeping Issues.
The way obesity happens is making poor food choices and lack of activity. There are right and wrong foods. When choosing healthy foods, you want to make sure you choose nutrient dense foods. Nutrient dense foods are foods that have a high vitamin and mineral content. Foods like vegetables, whole grains, beans, nuts, and seeds are examples of foods that are nutrient dense. You want to avoid foods that have empty calories in your diet. Foods with empty calories have sparse amounts of nutrients per calorie in them. Soda is a great example of an empty calorie food. Even if it is low or calorie free, you are still drinking compounds that have to be digested by your body.
Along with obesity, there are diets designed to make you lose weight fast. Some popular diets are Paleo and Keto. Problems with fad diets include Dehydration, Weakness, Fatigue, Nausea, headaches and ConstipationInadequate vitamin and mineral intake.
The reason the U.S has so much obesity is because of the products advertised. Some of the worst food products advertised are High sugar cereal products Soda, High fructose corn syrup contained in fruit flavored drinks, High sodium snack products, Products loaded with additives such as coloring, dyes, flavorings, and preservatives and pesticide laden food. Another reason there is more junk food consumed is because it is cheaper to buy than regular food.
Therefore, it is important to maintain proper nutrition and to stay active !
