Storyboard Text

  • What are some objects that you see near me that may be dangerous during an earthquake?
  • When outdoors, there are many objects such at powerlines, trees and window you will want to move away from during an earthquake.
  • When outdoors, there are many objects such at powerlines, trees and window you will want to move away from during an earthquake.
  • If you said the light pole, street and tree, you are correct. The tree and light pool are objects that can fall during an earthquake, and you never want to run into a street due to potential traffic.
  • During an outdoor earthquake, if you can't get to an open space away from potentially dangerous objects, kneel down, while covering your head next to something sturdy like a building wall or park bench.
  • You will want to stay in this pose until the earthquake is over and your environment is safe. Then move to a more open area free of fallen objects in the event there are aftershocks.
  • Next time we will check out a different outdoor scenario.Until then, remember Safety starts with "S" but begins with YOU.
