  • Wow, I didn't know that Victor can speak French!
  • What is this boy going on about???
  • Bonjour!
  • Frenchie oh wewe ge in September.
  • Yeah, I don't know if he knows what he's doing.
  • Are you sure about that?
  • Trust me guys, I should definitely be in charge of the project. I'm literally the smartest person in our class.
  • In this scene from the story "Seventh Grade," the main character Victor is in French class. Here, he is trying to impress Teresa by acting like he knows how to speak French even though he doesn't. This scene ties in with the theme "it's important to be yourself" because if you try acting a certain way for someone else that won't always end up well. A scene from my own seventh-grade experience was when my class was working on group projects and one person in our group wanted to be in charge of everything. The other people in our group knew exactly what he was trying to do and that he didn't know anything about what we were doing. He had always been showing off how he failed some assignments as if he was smart which is why in this scene he was acting like it so he didn't sound clueless. This ties into the theme "it's important to be yourself" because it shows to just best to be yourself and not change how you look or act just for somebody else. At the end of the day, it is the real you that matters the most and your actions.
