I don't know anything...
Noo! I promise to study more.
It is time to meet the ghosts of the IPE traditional schools of thought.
This is surprisingly educational.
I am the ghost of Mercantilism. States should use their economies to gather resources and augment state power at the expense of other countries.
The state is the important actor. I view IPE in terms of conflict between states over trade.
Exports increase state power, while imports weaken state power.
This contrast with Mercantilism, which uses trade to compete with states.
Also in liberalism, the state's role is to minimalize market failures!
I am the ghost of liberalism. States can benefit through trade by understanding comparative advantage.
Individuals are the important actors. I view IPE in terms of harmony among states.
State should export what is cheap, and import what is costly.
There is maybe hope for him.
No! I am the ghost of Marxism. I critique the capitalist system. Capitalism has created great wealth imbalance, and inequality. This will lead to a workers revolution against the capitalist system.
Wow! You're Karl Marx!
I view IPE in terms of the means of production and wage labor.
The important actor is the capitalist class. The role of the state is protect capital and the agents of capitalism.
What a strange dream...
But I understand it now! All the different schools of thought have different actors, roles for states, IPE perspective, and objectives.
Time to ace that presentation!
I got this! I met with the three ghost of the IPE traditional schools of thought last night.
We're never going to get an A.
