Uglies

We learn that Tally lives in Uglyville, and wants to become a Pretty. We also learn that her friend Perris is new pretty, and she sneaks into Prettyville to visit him. Tally meets Shay on her way back and she meets Shay, who is also waiting to turn Pretty and they become best friends.

Tally can't decide if she wants to become a pretty else and leave Shay to neverbecome a pretty because she got caught or if she wants to live out her life as anugly with Shay.
What am I gonna do? I really wanna see Parris and become a Pretty but I don't want to leave Shay. This is so hard! I can't choose.
Shay takes Tally to an empty field in the middle of the night and teaches her how to hoverboard and be able to see Prettyville while still being within the boundary of Uglyville.

To turn right, lean left and vice versa to turn left. Lean forward to speed up and back to slow down. It's really easy once you get it down.

Tally and David sneak into the headquarters to get Shay and find she is a Pretty. They escape and David's mom finds a cure for being Pretty but Shay refuses to take it.

Shay! I thought they took you. You turned into a Pretty?!?!
