  • *** This information includes examples of viruses spreading and their symptoms... not all of them!
  • Eventually, the virus has spread from Chris to everyone in his building because they are all on the same network (direct connection). Computer viruses is a type of cyber attack. It is a form of malware or malicious code that is designed to replicate relentlessly and spread from device to device. Originally, Chris may have gotten the virus from something like an email/text attachment, an Internet file download, spam links, etc. Now that all these computers are infected, the virus has successfully attached to a program, file, or document they have.
  • Viruses can sometimes be harmless, but usually they have damaging effects and can be used to steal money as well. Unfortunately, the virus Chris got (and gave everyone) is harmful. Like other viruses, it infected the computers once they ran the infected program, file, or document. The virus starts out dormant but soon has irritating effects. There are frequent pop-up windows, homepage changes, frequent crashes, the performance is slow, and data is corrupted or destroyed. Eventually, computers start crashing and won't turn on.
  • THE PAIN!!!!
  • The office calls a specialist- an antivirus solution- to cure all of their computer employees. Computer viruses often require something powerful to get rid of them. Although directions can be found online for people to get rid of viruses by themselves, software is a much more efficient and successful solution.
  • Fear not, for I'm here! I'm an antivirus software program and can easily scan you computers for viruses and other malware on your devices. Once I find your virus, I'll present different options to quickly remove it.
  • The software quickly gets rid of the virus on all the computers. Chris and all the office workers are very grateful, and are very interested in the antivirus solution's offer...
  • I can stay on you computers and keep scanning for viruses. You can also do things like updating your operating system and antivirus protection, increasing your browser security settings, avoid downloading questionable software, and stay away from unsecure websites to stay protected!
  • Thank you!
  • Chris's friends open the letter, or email. Even though company policy is to get any mail scanned by an antivirus service before opening it, they carelessly look at what's inside the envelope.

  • TO: cleo.computer@gmail.com
  • Chris ended up spreading the virus to his computer friends! They were all infected and their functionality was disrupted.

  • AAH! The pain! We're loading slowly, we're being bombarded by popups, and we've got weird programs and activities going on!
