- Catholics weren't happy with the way king James was ruling the country because he was a protestant king he banned catholic churches and made catholics pray in protestant churches or payed a large fine.
- A man called Robert Catesby and a few other men planed to blow up the houses of parliament to kill King James and then get a new king who hopefully would make catholics legal .
- Right people listen to the plan ...
- Of course they needed gunpowder to set off bombs so they went to the expert Guy Fawkes. He was in on the plan as he was a catholic and he said they needed 20 barrels to make sure he died. They had to do it on the 4th of november because thats when the king and all the important people meet to discuss the new year.
- Hey mate we need a favour...
- They then let three more people into the plan but that was there mistake because one of the men was friends with someone at the parliament who was going to be in there that night . so he sent a letter to his friend telling him about it. They were going to set the bombs off in the cellar which happened to be right under the room where they all sit.
- Just because one man sent that letter, he told the guards and they searched the palace with no luck. Then , they went to the basement and found Guy Fawkes with 20 barrels of gunpowder.
- Ha Ha Guy we got you!!!
- OH NO
- They tortured Guy Fawkes until he told them who the other plotters were. When they found out they found them and hung them.That is why we remember the fifth of november. It also tells you never try and kill the king or queen!
