- scene 1 - set in the house of Mike and Marie: the inspector, Ian and his wife Janet and their child Otto are coming over for a party and there is dinner and dancing showing the happy mood of the characters.
- we have our first murder case, awoman named Fran Roberts....
- scene 3 - the men look deeper in the case file (and there is a visual representation on the other side of the split stage
- Fan getting abused by her husband which is her suspected cause of death either directly (Physical) or indirectly (suicide)

- scene 5 - (split scene) Mike is working late in the office and begins to hallucinate the victims before him, while on the other side of the stage his wife Marie has just given birth to their first child - this is to show Mike's disconnection from society/reality as the 'perfect' life begins to fall apart
