Storyboard Text

  • Journey of the Sperm(The story of bad swimmers)
  • Vagina
  • The sperm enter the vagina, there is about 250 million, and more than half of them will die within 30 minutes.
  • Cervix
  • now, only 60,000 sperm will remain.The cervix and usually plugged shut with mucus, but during ovaloution it becomes watery enough for the sperm to swim though.
  • the sperm must swim in a single file line, and even then half will die and get lost in the thousands of pathways in the cervix.
  • now only 3000 sperm will remain, the sperm have a good sense of where they have to go now. But watch out! White blood cells have came to kill off the sperm!
  • Uterus
  • about 10-30 sperm remain now, Once inside they are safe from the attackers. The sperm are now provided by nourishment from the Fallopian Tubes.
  • Fallopian Tube (Fertilization)
  • The Ova (The human egg) only lives for 24 hours. Once the sperm reaches the Ova, it makes it so no other can penetrate the egg. The head of the sperm explodes, in order to penetrate the outer coat.
  • The Zygote (Union of the sperm and egg) travels down the Fallopian Tube and towards the uterus. On day 4, the tiny bundle of cells is called "Blastocyst."
  • Uterus (Implantation)
  • 5 days later, the embryo breaks out of the protective shell and implants itself to the uterus wall and begins growing.
