- A new government will give more aid to the region and withdraw all remaining troops from the Southern States.
- He was born in New Lebanon, 1814 and died in Greystone, N.Y. 1886. He was a lawyer, a governor of New York, and was a Democratic presidential candidate in the disputed election of 1876.
