Tomorrow is Easter the day I escape, I have been planning this for months and with the help of Harriet it will finally happen. The family will be so busy tonight planning that no one will notice.

Leaving that night it was cold and wet, I had not choice but to go barefoot or someone would hear me walking out down the path, but I didn't care as long as I was free all of this would be worth it.
I was walking all night following the north star knowing that once I found that log house I could finally rest. The sun was starting to rise and I could here horses riding quickly towards me. I had to find a place to hide and quick.
After finding shelter and a long day of hiding and walking I had finally made it to the Ohio River and Harriet. Harriet had promised me safe passage to Canada so I could be a free man. Once inside I was greeted by two white men.
Station
Hello we are Isaac Hopper and John Brown. We would like to help you cross the river and become a free man as we have done with others like yourself.
At first hesitant because I didn't have good luck with white men, Harriet assured me that I could trust them and they have helped free hundreds of other slaves. So we left a few nights later to sail across the Ohio River to find shelter in Canada.
And for the little time I wasn't lying under a quilt hiding trying to cross the Ohio River to freedom, I was able to sit on the boat and listen to the crickets chirp, the leaves blow, and my peace roar and at that moment I closed my eyes and said....
