- On 9/11/2001, commercial airplanes flew into the World Trade Center in New York City and the Pentagon in Washington, DC. Al-Qaeda, a terrorist group, was responsible for the attack. The U.S. decided to act because of the attacks
- World War I
- The Nazi Party, led by Adolf Hitler, gained control of Germany. Hitler believed that Germans were a superior race and planned to conquer the rest of Europe. Nazi Germany attacked Poland in 1939, which begin World War II. The U.S. got Involved because Japan attacked Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. Germany and Italy also declared war on the United States
- Iran Hostage Crisis
- American spy planes discovered that Cubans were secretly building bases for Soviet nuclear missiles. The U.S. got involved because he did not want to start a nuclear war.
- Second Gulf War

- A great war started between the Central Powers, and the Allies. The U.S. decided to involve because Germany began sinking American ships.
- Popular demonstrations overthrew the Shah of Iran. The U.S. leaders let the Shah enter the United States. The new Iranian government objected this and took the staff of the U.S. Embassy as Hostages. The U.S. got involved to release the hostages.
- After 911 President Bush feared that Hussein might be hiding "weapons of mass destruction" which can be given to Al-Qaeda terrorist. They forced Hussein to resign from office. The U.S. got involved because they didn't want to start a war.
