Life without the Bill of Rights

Storyboard Text

  • Life without the Bill of Rights would have been a lot different. For example in the second Amendment it protects a citizens ability to bear arms. Without this any terrorist or gang operation in major cities could easily succeed without any citizen militia to defend the city. The Third Amendment prevents soldiers from living in citizens homes without the owners permission. Without this hundreds of soldiers could easily live anywhere they want and stop the home owner from being in his own home. In the fourth amendment it states that no government can take or search through something without a warrant. Without this any government official can search through anything to find what they want without consent. In the sixth amendment it says that the government must provide a lawyer. Without this many men would be in jail for what they did and the fact that they can't defend themselves. In the eighth amendment it states that the punishment of a person is to be equal to the crime. Without this many bias judges would sentence unfair sentences. In the first amendment it protects freedom of the press and speech. Without this none of the newspapers would be as accurate and many people would feel quieted or left out.
  • Life without the Bill of rights would feel very secretive and like all the people are being watched. It is a good thing that the Bill of Rights was made so the people actually have rights.
