- Once there was a farmer who lived alone in Sumatra. He went to fish in a river one day and caught a beautiful goldfish.
- Please do not be afraid. I am also a human but cursed and you saved me! For that I shall be your wife.
- The goldfish transformed into a beautiful lady. She promised to become his wife. The farmer only nodded as he was still in shock.
- I must be hallucinating right now...
- So they became husband and wife. with the promise of the husband keeping the secret.
- However you must promise me that you must not tell anyone that I was a fish.
- I promise....
- They worked hard, farming and doing their duties. As time passed, they bore a child: a boy.
- The boy grew very naughty and doesn't even listen to his father. One day the father ask his son to deliver water and food to him. He became very furios when he got home only to find out that his son is playing. He said words he never thought he could say.
- Scallywag! Not know themselves. Son of a fish!
- After the father spoke those words, instantly his son and wife vanished. From the former stamp of his feet, sudden gush of water are very heavy and getting heavier. All the surroundings were submerged into water. Water overflowed and formed into a lake. The lake is eventually called lake Toba which means ungrateful.
