The life of Alfredo Salazar, Don Julian's son was introduced by a scene where he overhears what his sister Carmen and his father are talking about. His prolonged preparation time of the wedding to his fiancé Esperanza which seems to have no progress at all.
One time, Don Julian decided to go neighboring with Alfredo, which he does not usually do. They visited Judge Del Valle's house where he met Julia Salas. The visiting became frequent eventually and realized he had feelings for Julia.#160;
After the procession of the Lady of Sorrows, Alfredo caught up with Julia. They had a small conversation then suddenly she broke his silence and said congratulations to their wedding. He then asked her did you ever had to choose between something you wanted to do and something that you had to do?
Because Julia did not want to interfere with their relationship, she went back to her town and said her farewell to Alfredo which made him think if the lasts words have been said. He then went home to Esperanza.#160;
The wedding of Alfredo and Esperanza pushed through.#160; After a couple of years. Alfredo had to go to Sta. Cruz which was Julia's hometown to find an elusive woman named Brigada Samuy-a whom he needed to be his defense in court. He found a reason to visit the house of Julia and there he found her. As he saw her, he then realized that his love for Julia was like a dead star, there was no more feelings.
