This scene is explaining how Jesus is giving out his body and blood in a form of wine and bread at The Last Supper.

Jesus is being stripped of his clothing. They put a purple cloak on him. They are doing this to mock him.

Jesus is being made fun of. They made a crown of thorny branches and placed it on His head while, putting a stick through his hand also.
While they were eating, Jesus took a piece of bread, gave a prayer of thanks, broke it, and gave it to His disciple. "Take and eat it", He said, "This is my body". Matthew 26:26
Making Fun Of Jesus
Pilate delivers Jesus to be crucified to please the crowd.
Then one of the twelve disciples, named Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests and asked, "What will you give me if I betray Jesus to you?" They counted out 30 silver coins and gave them to him. Matthew 26: 14-15

Jesus is being taken to Golgatha while carrying his own cross to be crucified.
And they stripped him and put a scarlet cloack on him. Matthew 27:28
They they made a crown out of thorny branches and placed it on his head and put a stick in His right hand; then they knelt before Him and made fun of Him. "Long live the King of the Jews!" they said.

So Pilate wishing to satisfy the crowd, released for them Barabbas, and having scrouged Jesus, he delivered him to be crucified.
So they took Jesus, and he went out, bearing his own cross, to The Place of Skull, which in Aramaic is called Golgotha.
