- I KNOW RIGHT!!!
- Did you see the new girl! Her outfit is just EW!
- Who is that?
- I haven't seen her around here??
- In every school, there is a popular clique who thinks they run the whole school. I don't hang around those types of groups. Only because they act like they own everyone since there "popular." I had thought that wasn't a real thing in schools until I got into 5th grade.5th grade is supposed to be the exciting year before leveling up to middle school. Unfortunately, things didn't go as planned with me being the new girl at the school. I didn't know anyone when everyone else had known each other from 4th and 3rd grade. But my mom reminded me to have a positive mindset. My mom always told me to speak positive things into existence.
- She's like so weird, like we don't even know her she 's like brand new.
- I picked out my outfit that fit the weather and ate breakfast. After a good breakfast, we were on our way to my new school. I was so nervous but, it was an inch of me that was excited and ready to make new friends. We pulled up in the school parking lot that was filled with kids walking into the school. My mom asked me," Do you want me to walk you into school?" I said no. I promised I would text her so she could know I was ok and adjusting well.I walk into the big school building. Immediately I felt all eyes make their way towards me. I could even hear the whispers from a mile away asking," Who is she?"
- Mmm... could have been better.
- How was your day sweetie?
- I went to the nearest teacher insight and explained how I was new and how I needed help getting directed to my classes. She ended up being very sweet and showed me to all my classes. I walked into a colorful classroom while being greeted with a strong gust of cherry blossom perfume in the air. I put my backpack up on the available cubby next to where my seat was. My teacher handed me an "All About Me" paper asking simple questions so she could get to know me better. I filled the sheet out while more of my classmates walked in. Some time went by while my teacher was telling the rules of her classroom along with her expectations. Before I knew it, it was time for lunch.
- You are so nice and funny how can somebody not like you!
- We lined up for lunch and walked down to the lunchroom. It reeked with the smell of lumpy mashed potatoes and gravy along with raw chicken tenders. I was thankful my mom packed me my lunch that day. I noticed a lot more people looking at me while giggling and pointing at me to their friends. I was confused. Why were they laughing? Was there something on me? Was my hair messed up? What was it? I finally figured it out they didn't like me since I was new. I was over it and ready to go home.
- Finally, it was dismissal time. I got in the car and got asked the big question," How was your day?" I replied," It could have been better." I explained to my mom that how people were making fun of me because I was new. She explained to me that I need to ignore people and focus on my education.
- My mom has always said that if I have a bad day and nothing goes as planned I need to pray and have a positive mindset that tomorrow will be a great day. The second day I found out my mom was right. I went into the school with a positive mindset and I had a good day and made new friends. I learned from my mom that having a positive mindset will make you feel like nothing can make you sad, upset, or angry.
