  • Physical wellnessis important in keeping our bodies functioning properly. Physical wellness is finding a balance of physical activity, proper nutrition, and mental well-being. This means taking responsibility for your own physical health. When you are physically well, you lower your risk of disease and reduce depression. Agoal is a desired outcome or, in other words, something you want to achieve. Goals can either be short or long term, depending on the desired outcome. Goal setting is not only a life skill, but will help keep you focused and motivated, avoid procrastination, and allow you to measure yourprogress. Goals are especially important when it comes to your wellness. When setting goals, we need to make sure they are SMART goals. ASMART goalis a goal that is specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound.
  • Physical Wellness and Setting Goals
  • Before starting any type of physical fitness plan, it is important to assess your current health and fitness levels. When assessing your health and fitness levels, two types of assessments are used; subjective and objective.Subjectiveassessments; identify goals you have, eating habits, health conditions that may impact physical activity, and the amount of physical activity currently performed. These types of assessments are subjective because they are reported by the individual person. If you are embarrassed to share this information, you may not always be truthful about it.
  • Assessing Health and Fitness
  • In order to be fit and healthy, you need to engage in some type of recreational program. It is recommended that young adults perform 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity everyday. The key to developing a successful personal activity program is to find recreational activities that you enjoy and that are appropriate for your health and fitness level.
  • Selecting Physical Activities
  • Cardio activities are activities that use your cardiovascular system. Remember that there are many activities such as dancing, skateboarding, and playing recreational sports that can provide a great cardio workout. Also keep in mind that your cardio does not have to be performed at one time. You can break it up throughout the day.

Good nutrition requires that the proper balance and quantities of essential nutrients are obtained from a variety of foodcombinations. Yourdietary habits begin very early in life. The moment you start eating solid food as a child, your relationship with food begins. There are many factors that will affect your relationship with food as you move through life. One of these is the social environment surrounding meals, which can create a positive or negative feeling about eating. The types of foods available will also be very important to establishing a healthy or unhealthy dietary pattern.
