- Omens were very important to the Aztec. The ten years before Cortes arrived at the coast, the Aztecs began experiencing omens. This forecasted a great calamity within the community. Some of the examples of omens is a flaming ear of corn flying through the sky. The temple of Huitzilopotchli getting set to flames when no one was there, and a stragne bird with a mirror on its head where moctezuma caould see things others couldnt
- Please Accept our gifts of Gold, Jewels, and featherworks.. In our Tradition, the person who offered the better gift was superior to the other, and the other should either accept that the other has more power, or leave.

- Montezuma treated Cortes with great respect beacuse he believed he was Quetzalcoatl. Montezuma was seeing visions of Cortes for years and his family had been waiting generations for someone to see a god. Once Cortes was found and was said to be Quetzalcoatl, Montezuma had to treat him well to not ruin the relationship from the god to a human.
- Quetzalcoatl was very important to the Aztec tradition. He was said to have lost a fight and headed into the eastern sky. One day he was going to come back and retake his throne. The depictions of his reincarnation was shown to be a white man with a beard or a plumed serpent.
