This is Aaron Burr. He was a promising politician who served in the NY State Assembly and as state attorney. He was once partners with Alexander Hamilton but not anymore.
Their disdain for each other started when Aaron Burr ran and won against Hamilton's father-in-law Phillip Schuyler in the 1791 race for U.S Senate.
Later, in the 1804 election, Aaron Burr and Thomas Jefferson tied for who won. Hamilton convinced the House of Representatives to vote for Jefferson, which angered Burr.
After these events and others, the two agreed to a duel at Weehawken, New Jersey. When the duel started, Hamilton shot and missed, but Burr took his time and fatally wounded Hamilton, who died soon after.
After the duel, Burr was accused of murder by Americans. He was never brought to trial, but he lost his political career. Burr would later be put on trial for allegations that he was conspiring with foreign governments but was not found guilty. After this he would go to Europe, eventually return, and die in 1836.
