Storyboard Text

  • Hello There, it's finally nice to meet you both. Make yourself comfortable and please take a seat.
  • Thank you both so much for attending! Here is the students portfolio you will need for this conference.
  • First I would like to start off by saying how much of a joy its to have your child in my class, very respectful and polite. Today we will be discussing your Childs test scores and a plan to improve her results.
  • When conducting a teacher parent conference on explaining their child's assessment choose a comfortable place and time, so both parties have the right mindsets and adequate time to have discussion. Make sure you make eye-contact and always give positive objectives.
  • We analyze your student's writing samples each quarter. Your child's portfolio shows that they are doing a great job of selecting quotations that support their main idea. However, they need more practice formatting their citations.
  • Be sure to include documents, spreadsheet of grades, infographic, as well as explaining where the students is currently performing and where the students potential is moving forward.
  • What do you notice about your student's focus on more technical details? ... That's a great idea! I think a personalized desk guide to citations might work well this quarter!
  • Start the conversation with a positive statement about their child in the classroom before starting the purpose of the meeting.
  • Thanks so much for coming today! Here's the portfolio so far, as well as the handout with reminders about your child's focus skills and my phone number. I look forward to hearing from you!
  • Begin by reviewing the portfolio with the parents and explain the process of the assessment. Thoroughly discuss the type of test, the frequency, and purpose of the test. After that review the students progress and future benchmarks.
  • Allow the parents to speak first on any concerns or ideas they might think will help the student improve. Move on to presenting your educational plan moving forward to the parents, which is to achieve a higher overall grade from last quarter. Furthermore set up a clear and consistent communication forum and explain how it work and material they will be receiving every week.
  • Thank the parents for coming to the meeting! Be sure to give the parents the students portfolio with copies of test scores, important material that was shared or any material needed at home for parent student collaboration. Always include a copy of the intervention plan with your contact information. At the end have the parents sign a contract agreement on what we went overall in the meeting.
