It is any potential loss or damage as a result of the volcanic hazard that might be incurred by people, property, etc., or which negatively impacts the productive capacity/ sustainability of a population.

- To clarify what she said, Disaster management efforts aim to reduce or avoid the potential losses from hazards, assure prompt, and appropriate assistance to the victims of a disaster, and achieve a rapid and effective recovery. It ensures an effective and coordinated response to disasters. It is fundamental to timely and effectual assistance to disaster hit people.
