  • Thanks for inviting me to lunch! How are you?
  • I'm actually not feeling good. I feel weak, tired,faint, I'm cold, and I can't catch my breath. Can you take me to the doctor please?
  • So I here you are feeling weak, faint, tired, short of breath and you are cold. These are symptoms of anemia (iron deficiency).
  • okay doc.What should I do to get my iron levels higher?
  • What I recommend is to eat more lean meats, egg yolks, leafy greens, dried beans, and fruit.
  • Okay will do! Just one question, What does iron do to help the body?
  • Great question! Well iron helps cells in our body use oxygen. Iron help our bodies grow and develop. And iron helps make some hormones.
  • Wow that's cool! Last question I promise. What happens if my body or someones else's doesn't get enough iron?
  • Another good question! When someones body doesn't get enough iron their body won't produce a good amount of a substance in their red blood cells that let them carry oxygen. That means you won't get oxygen to places you need in your body. That's why you were feeling faint.
  • Okay doc. I will try to make an effort to eat more lean meats, leafy green veggies, dried beans, egg yolks, and fruit to get more iron into my diet. Bye i hope you have a good rest of your day

  • I'm doing fine. My doctor told me that I am on the verge of having an iron deficiency. I was told to eat more food with iron in them to get my levels higher. Overall my doctor was very helpful and told me what iron does in our bodies and why it's important.
