  • Athens and it's allied formed a Delian league to try and defend off any threats against them. The Spartans followed forming the Peloponnesian League, then they declared war.
  • We should form together to create an alliance!
  • I agree!
  • The Spartans declared war on athens in attempt to stop their growth in around 431 BC. Sparta marched to Athens, however Pericles, a Greek politician, had ordered his troops to move into the city. Spartan knew the Athenians wouldn't last long without food, so they burned their crops and decided to wait them out. However the Athenian Navy was able to sneak in food to Athens, while also destroying Spartan's allies, and spreading Sparta forces. However a disease began to break out in Athens, killing 1/3 the population and Pericles. For 10 years no one gained an upper hand until finally they signed a truce.
  • We'll wait em out and burn their crops!
  • As a result of the Peloponnesian war, Spartan became the most powerful city-state for 30 years. City-states became jealous and started civil war against Sparta. This weakened City-sates as the war lasted for many years and left them open for attack and invasion.
  • THIS MEANS WAR
