  • Hello, my name is Cody, and I am here to teach you about mummification.

  • They would wash the internal organs and packed them in a jar with natron (Natural salt) but they would leave the heart in the body, because they needed it in there after life.
  • They would then use a hook to mash up the brain and pull it out through the nose. then they would cover the body with salt for it to dry.
  • Special type of priests could only complete this process. They worked as embalmers. It also took them around 70 days.
  • They would wait for around 40 days for the body to dry, after around 40 days, they would wash the body again with water for the nile river, and then cover the body in oil to make sure the skin keep it elastic.

In the past they would put the organs in a jar called canopic jars, and would bury the jars with the owner of the organs as they would protect the organs.

  • They put things that to by that person in the afterlife in the tombs. They also placed their Canopic jarsin with their burial
  • The arms and legs are tied together. A papyrus scroll with spells from the book of the dead is placed between the wrapped hands. a cloth then is wrapped around the body and a picture of the god Ossiris is painted on its surface. A large cloth will be wrapped around the entire mummy. Attach with strips with linen that run from top to bottom of the mummy, and around its middle
