  • Hello, I am Amar, an environmentalist belonging to Haryana, working with NGO related to conservation of soil.

  • Amar: I have recently shifted to Telangana and I am very impressed with the approach of farmers towards Soil.Farmer: Hello Amar, welcome to Telangana. Glad you like it here!
  • I am glad you are taking such initiatives towards the protection of soil!
  • Amar: would you tell me about the methods being used by people at Telangana for conversion of soil?Farmer: why not! Farmers of Telangana use techniques like multiple cropping, crop rotation, planted windbreaks, cover crops, etc for conservation of soil.
  • This is very well maintained!
  • Amar: can you tell me more about these techniques?Farmer: Definitely I will tell you. Windbreaks are linear plantings of trees and shrubs designed to enhance crop production, protect people and livestock, and benefit soil and water conservation.

  • Farmer : Crop rotation is the practice of planting different crops sequentially on the same plot of land to improve soil health, optimize nutrients in the soil, and combat pest and weed pressure.
  • Farmer:cover crops are plants that are planted to cover the soil rather than for the purpose of being harvested. Cover crops manage soil erosion, soil fertility, soil quality
