- "Jump in!"
- George bullied Lennie a lot. George told him to jump in the river and Lennie did it and almost drowned. It made George respect him because he actually did it.
- Carlson shot Candy's dog because the dog is old, struggling, has no teeth, smells because his fur is matted, and has arthritis.
- "Look, Candy. This ol' dog jus' suffers hisself all the time. If yopu was to take him out and shoot him right in the back of the head."
- Curley and Curley's wife are always looking for each other because she's always out giving "the eye" to people. This makes Curley think that she is having an affair with Slim since he his the "hottest" on the ranch. Slim tells him that he should know where she is and he hasn't seen her.
- "I jus' thought you might of saw her."

- Candy is willing to help George and Lennie start up their own ranch.
- "Tell you what-- s'pose I went in with you guys. Tha's three hundred an' fifty bucks I'd put in."
- Lennie fights Curley back until he can't anymore.
- "Get him Lennie!"
