- Once, a severe drought occurred in a village . All the ponds dried up . The pond
- from which Bodhananda took water to irrigate his fields also dried up. How can his crops be saved?He decided to dig a well in his farm. He found a suitable place and started digging the well. As days passed, the well became very deep. Still he did not get any water.Everybody came to know about Bodhananda's well. Those who came to see the well had different views. Bodhananda who was distressed at not finding water at his well listened to the various opinions and tried digging at different places."Alas, after digging so many wells, I could not find water even in a single one."
- He sat under a tree worrying about his crops getting destroyed in the drought. A sage who came that way, asked him what the matter was. He told the sage everything."Instead of digging different wells, if you had deepened the first one, you would have found water," the sage remarked and walked away.
