- The events before the graphic novel scenes are as follows. Magnus, the blonde kid with the sword is under attack from another worldlybeing. He wants the sword for himself for he believes it to be a powerful weapon. The 2 start to fight before magnus' friends arrive to help him and distract the enemy, whose name is Surtr. Eventually, magnus tells his friends to help the nearby incapacitated citizens and fights surtr himself, where he eventually loses but manages to mortally wound surtr before he dies.
