- Scene 1: The Buchanan's
- "But it's so hot," insisted Daisy, on the verge of tears, "And everything's so confused. Let's all go to town!"
- Scene 2: Driving to the city
- Scene 3: Getting gas in the valley of ashes
- "Let's have some gas!" cried Tom roughly. "What do you think we stopped for—to admire the view?"
- It is the hottest day of the year and everyone is roasting. Daisy suggests that they all go into the city.
- Scene 4: Climax of the novel/Gatsby and Tom Fight
- "Your wife doesn't love you," said Gatsby. "She's never loved you. She loves me."
- On the way to the city, Daisy and Gatsby take Tom's coupe while Tom drives Jordan and Nick in Gatsby's car.
- Scene 5: Daisy hits Myrtle
- "Yes," he said after a moment, "but of course I'll say I was.
- Tom stops by Mr. Wilson's Garage to fill up gas while Gatsby and Daisy keep driving. Tom finds out that George is taking Myrtle away to the west because she "always wanted to go there" when in reality, he just found out about the affair of Tom and Myrtle.
- Scene 6: Gatsby at the Buchanan's
- This is the big fight scene between Gatsby and Tom. They go back and fourth for a little with just small things and then Gatsby tells Tom that Daisy never loved Tom. Tom then brings up how Gatsby is a bootlegger and after he clearly wins the quarrel, he send Daisy back home with Gatsby.
- On the way home, Gatsby's car hits Myrtle, killing her instantly. George Wilson grieves.
- Later, Nick finds Gatsby hiding in a bush outside of the Buchanan's mansion. He was making sure Tom didn't hurt Daisy. Nick yells at Gatsby assuming at first that Gatsby was driving, but he later finds out that Daisy was driving and Gatsby is going to take the blame for what happened.
- "Was Daisy driving?"
