  • Thank you Father. I will become the best musician.
  • Apollo loved his son Orpheus and gifted him a special lyre.
  • Slide: 3
  • Wow, everyone loves my music! Even animals and plants listen to my Lyre.
  • Orpheus became the greatest lyre musician. Everybody who heard his music acted like they were under his spell and control.

  • You are the most beautiful girl I have ever met.
  • You are handsome and so talented with your music!

  • Eurydice was kidnapped by a snake and taken to the underworld. Orpheus was devastated to lose his wife forever.
  • Ouch! You bit me with your poison!
  • Hissss, Bite, I am taking you to the underworld as a gift to Hades.

  • Orpheus met Eurydice one day in the forest and they quickly fell in love and got married.
  • I will grant you permission to enter the underworld. Be careful, Hades is crafty and does not give anything without a trick or cost.
  • Thank you. I will charm Hades with my Lyre.
  • Apollo granted Orpheus access to the underworld to try and save his wife. No living person had ever been to the underworld.

  • Wow! This is so easy, I can't believe Hades gave me this easy condition.
  • I will grant your wish. All you have to do is not look back, or she will stay with me forever!
  • Orpheus played his lyre for Hades. The music softened Hades' heart. He granted Eurydice freedom under one condition. Orpheus may not look back until she is out of the underworld.

  • This so easy! I have tricked Hades in releasing my wife! Wait...I can't hear her behind me and it is so dark. I wonder if she is still behind me?
  • Orpheus ran out of the underworld and he could only think of what his future life would be like with Eurydice.

  • Oh No! Why did I look back before exiting the cave? Eurydice, I am so sorry. I will miss you forever!
  • Orpheus anxiously looked back when he was in the light. Eurydice had not yet made it out of the underworld and into the light. She would now have to live forever with Hades. Orpheus was devastated once again.

  • The moral of the story is to always practice self control and follow directions. Orepheus was very close to saving his wife from Hades, but failed to have self control. He looked back at his wife and she was unable to leave the underworld.
