  • The doctor introduced himself and then began asking open-ended questions. To get to know the patient.
  • Howdy doc, I'm a cowboy as you can see, and about a weeks back, there was a snake in my boot. It scared my horse knocking me off onto my back.
  • Hi, I will be your doctor today. what brings you in today?
  • Every since then I have had extreme pain in my back and its been almost impossible to work. I need to get back as quickly as possible.

  • We can look into prescribing an anti-inflammatory to help manage the pain, since the pain has persisted for a few days I want to get some imaging done.
  • Right now I can't take off work we have 3 weeks left in the season so surgery is not an option right now. The farm is short handed already and if I cant work, I don't know what they would do.

  • We got your x-ray back and there does not seem to be any structural damage. It appears you just have some bad bruising and muscle tightness. 
  • I happened to walk by our on sight PT and asked her to write up some exercise/ stretches you can do to help relieve your back pain on top of the meds.
  • In this encounter the doctor practice many elements of patient-centered care. From prating active listening, having a positive body language, Asking open-ended questions, showing empathy for the patient's situation, and specializing his treatment method to the patient's needs.
