Indy: "Dad kicked me out until I learn how to be a good little boy." pg74
I think that Indy symbolizes how a average skater would talk. He is very nonchalant and doesn't really care for much. He recently got in a fight with his parents for not going to school. That got him suspended and his dad hit his face broke his board then kicked him out of the house until he respects them. Through the book he learns that him acting like this hurts his family more than it hurts him. He eventually goes back to his house and apologizes to his parents.

Tate: "He just doesn't understand you, Indy. You're different than him, you know?" pg75
I think that Tate symbolizes that he is very helpful and is trying to bring people together. He is the main protagonist so he is always in peoples business. He is a very good friend and brother and even to strangers he is nice to. Tate can pack a punch in situations where him or his friends are in a mess. This makes him a very respectable person to the people around him. When Indy was in trouble with his parents he tried to get Indy to apologize to him faster.

Badger: "he bought a new board then left."pg68
I think skateboards symbolize that in this book it's not just a hobby. The people in this book do it for more reasons. They do also do it for fun but there are more reasons then that. It can be used as a way to show off. It can be used for money. You could get sponsored and be a pro. It shows how skateboards can be more than a hobby in some cases.
