At recess, a group of kids come up to him. “Do you want to play tag with us?” one of them asks. “You look so lonely sitting here” adds another. All the new kids looked scary, and Oliver was embarrassed to be caught sitting alone. “No, I don’t want to join your game”, he says, and runs away. Oliver misses his friends, his old school, and everything he was familiar with. I wish we had never moved, he thinks.
When Oliver got home, he was in a bad mood. His little sister, Aria, came up to him.“Do you want to play cars with me?” She asks. “No”, he tells her, “I have homework to do”. A bit later, Aria comes up to him again. “Are you done your homework? Do you want to have a tea party with me?” “No,” Oliver says, getting annoyed, “I don’t want to play tea party with you”.
After dinner, Aria is beginning to get upset. She asks her brother, “you have been grumpy all afternoon, Oliver. Are you sure you don’t want to come and play?”Oliver has had enough. “For the last time, I do not want to play with you, stop being so annoying!” he snaps. He runs up to his room and slams the door. Downstairs, he can hear his sister crying.
