For days and weeks the Ghost tried and tried to frighten the family, but the parents were indiferent and the brothers were unbearable. They tied strings across the corridor so that he fell over. They put butter on the stairs so that he slipped. And one night he was dawnstairs wondering where were the Lord Canterviilles paintings. And as he walked towards the library, two dark figures jumped out of a corner. 'BOO!' they shouted in his ear. In a panic, the Ghost ran up the stairs. Washington was waiting for him with a large garden pump in his hands. In desperation, the Ghost jumped into tha fireplace and escaped up the chimney to his room. After this nobody saw him again.
part 6. Virginia's Secret
That day Virginia went horse riding with Cecil. While they were in the woods her jacket got ripped. So she was searching for a servant to sew up her clothes when she entered the room. The Canterville Ghost was sitting by the window, looking sadly at the red and golden autumn leaves. Thay talked for a long time, he explained her why he murdered his why and how did he die because of the revenge of his brothers-in-law. She tells him he has been bad, and he says he is sorry and just wants to rest in peace. He doesn't want to be a ghost anymore.

Still in the Ghost's room Sir Simon explained to Virginia that there was a way for him to rest in peace. He told her that she had Love, and Love is stronger than Death. He explained her that the only way that he can reast in peace and go to the Garden of Death is if she talked to the Angel of Death to forgive him. Beacause she was the Golden Girl, the only one who could do it.
End
One day when everyone is still searching for Virginia a part of a wall opens and she appears through it. She explains to her family and the Duke what has she been doing. She explains them that the Ghost is now Death and that he left her a box full of jewels. They find Sir Simon's skeleton and thay see that the old black tree has got flowers on it. Virginia thinks it is a sign that God has forgiven Sir Simon.
