Storyboard Text

  • Mr. Thomas, Tyler's dad, has scheduled a meeting with Mrs. Bell to discuss his son's academic progress. He tells her that Tyler's learning disability has been getting in the way of him doing his homework and he often forgets what he has to do. Mrs. Bell lets him know that Tyler is supposed to be writing in his agenda at school to remember his homework assignments, but he has been refusing to do so and is now also refusing to complete work in class.
  • Mrs. Bell and Mr. Thomas decide that they need to collaborate in order to get Tyler back on the right track. Mrs. Bell asks if Tyler has any preferred activities at home that could be used as an incentives. He loves playing video games! They decide that for every day Tyler completes all of his work at school and remembers to do his homework, he will earn 10 minutes of video games on the weekend.
  • The next day at school, Mrs. Bell checks in with Tyler and reminds him to write his homework in his agenda. Tyler is much more focused in class and is eager to complete his work since his dad told him about their new plan. At the end of the day, Mrs. Bell check's Tyler's agenda to make sure his homework is written down and leaves a note for Mr. Thomas, letting him know that Tyler had a great day in class and finished all of his assignments.
  • When Tyler gets home, he is so proud of the positive note Mrs. Bell left for his dad. His dad is thrilled and helps Tyler get started on his homework. He can't wait to show Mrs. Bell that he finished his homework! He has now earned 10 minutes of video games this weekend!
  • The next morning, Tyler runs into the room to show Mrs. Bell his finished homework. She tells him that she is so proud of him and that she knew he could do it! He eagerly gets to his desk and begins writing in his agenda once again. He has another great day at school and receives another positive note to show his dad.
  • A few weeks later, Mr. Thomas comes in for a mid-semester parent-teacher conference. He and Mrs. Bell discuss how well Tyler has been doing and are both thrilled by the results of their new system. He thanks Mrs. Bell for working together with him to find a solution that would help his son get back on track with his schoolwork.
