The scene contributes with the plot because it shows how important the button could be in this situation. It also shows how the character could feel about this button, how this simple scene can determine the characters by the way they act or think of things. Like Mrs. Lewis seems greedy because all she is thinking about is money and Mr. Lewis seems like he is a kind soul because he doesn't want to kill these innocent people. This builds suspense by making the reader feel like there is two separate outcomes depending on each person, leading to suspense.

What are you talking about Norma... we shouldn't do these! These are people we are talking about!!
What if we do press the button???
what about us Arthur!!
let's just stop talking about this conversation
ok....
This scene advances the storyline because Mrs. Lewis is still thinking about the button seeing if they should press the button to get the money that they need for things, but Mr. Lewis is saying they should press the button because it could kill someone and it could feel guilty if they do. It shows that Mr. Lewis still cares about people in the world even if it deals with money; very disappointed in her actions. It shows that Mrs. Lewis is still being greedy and doesn't care about other people except for herself and her "husband". How this scene contributes with the scene is that it shows the differences and the tense that Mr. and Mrs. Lewis had during this argument.
