  • How Freud Sees Me
  • I'm so nervous!!!
  • Test time!!!
  • How Adler Sees Me
  • I didn't make this mess.
  • Guys, please! Let's just work together and fix this.
  • This is all your fault! Clean it up.
  • How Rogers Sees Me
  • I understand, and that is okay. I have been there before! It helps to just shake it off and get the next one. You got this!
  • I feel so bad I messed up on that play.
  • Sigmund Freud focused on the unconscious stages of development. These stages were focused on "steps" you needed to take in order to continue through development, and you could be stuck in a stage if unable to fully complete the focuses on each stage. In this example, I am very nervous for a test, therefore I bite my fingernails. Freud would say that I am stuck in the oral stage of life. The oral stage focuses on biting, chewing, etc.
  • How Jung Sees Me
  • I'm going to the (country) club, you will need to go out and get food for the family.
  • Alfred Adler viewed the psychodynamic theory through the birth order. He believed that the order in which siblings were born in impacted their personality. From experience, I am the oldest of 4 girls. By being the oldest, my personality consists of being a peacekeeper. In this example, it is shown me trying to keep the peace between siblings in an argument over a dirty room.
  • How Eysenck Sees Me
  • Carl Rogers focused on the central perspective of environmental growths. In this instance, I am on the softball field with another player who just messed up a play. I am using the step of empathy in order to relate to the other player. I am mirroring her feelings and reflecting on the situation in order to relate and comfort her.
  • How Bandura Sees Me
  • Why is she just standing there? I think she hates us.
  • Carl Jung used the emphasis on the unconscious to provide the collective unconscious, which is a common archetype that has derived from our species' universal experience. In this example, my father is going out to eat and drink, and he tells me that I am the one that has to provide food. Even though I am willing to do so, I already had a preconceived idea that the male figures would bring home what the family needs.
  • Okay... I figured you would be the one to get that...
  • Eysenck focused on the factor analysis of extraversion/introversion and emotional stability/instability. They believed that extroverts seek stimulation due to brain arousal and introverts process through the automatic nervous system. In this situation, someone is asking me if the bathroom is open, and because of my automatic nervous system reactivity, I become shy and stutter.
  • Uh... Uh...
  • Is there anyone in there?
  • Bandura theorized that behavior is influenced by interaction with people's traits in social situations. Overall, reciprocal determinism is the focus point, having behavior, internal cognition, and environment all reflecting and influencing one another. In this example, I am standing at the bus stop. I am very nervous for the first day of school, so I am not standing in the group. Because I am not in the group, the other kids think I hate them, which then makes the environment I am in more stressful.
  • OMG I am so nervous...
