This scene shows that Katie thinks that its her fault that her desk has to go into her mother sewing room because there is not enough space in Katies and Lynns room. This shows shes innocent and doesn't realize that its not her fault but more of no ones fault.

In this scene Katie is just answering questions and not realizing the reality of it is a little racist but more curiousity as they are just kids.
This scene shows how Katie speaks up to Lynn and Amber about how ridiculous the book holding is. Katie then looks to Lynn for agreement but Lynn disagrees. This shows that Lynn is getting older and maturing while Katie is still young and innocent and hasn't come to the realization that she is growing up.
In this scene it shows the sleeping bag being burned and Katie was throwing dirt on it to put it out. Katie noticed Lynn standing behind the sleeping bag in a way of yearning to also play with the fire and put it out. This shows how Katie is still a little to innocent to realize Lynn is growing up and trying to be Mature but also realizes Lynn still loves to do reckless things as a girl.
