Storyboard Text

  • Battle of the French and the British
  • Taxation by British
  • We are poor, we need money!
  • We shall tax the colonists for our people and country.
  • Protest
  • This is not fair, we shall not pay taxes to the British.
  • NO MORE TAXESWE WON'T PAY
  • The French and the British were battling for land and power. The Treaty of Paris was signed and the war was ended. Britain won and gained land and power. At the end of the war Great Britain was in debt and needed money.
  • Prepare for war
  • Great Britain was poor so they raised money by taxing the colonists. The British enforced acts declaring taxes on the colonists such as the Townsend Acts, the Stamp Acts, and the Intolerable Acts.
  • War begins
  • The colonists were angry with the British and began to protest. Some of the protests were against the Tea Acts, Stamp Acts, and the Intolerable Acts.
  • Independence
  • Free From The British1776
  • The First Continental Congress met and told the colonists to continue boycotts, protests, and to prepare for war. The Second Continental Congress met and organized the continental army to fight the British.
  • War began and the colonists fought Britain. Some of the battles were the Battle at Lexington, the Battle at Concord, and the Battle at Bunker Hill. The colonists set up the fight at Dorchester Heights but on March 7 the British General Howe knew his army could not win and retreated. The colonists won the Revolutionary War.
  • Independance was announced. The colonists began writing the Declaration of Independence which was declared on July 4, 1776.
