- ¨Well, some of the kids at school may not say hello to you either¨
- ¨ Why wouldn´t they wan´t to know me??¨
- Wait come on lets go over there I think I see someone.

- At least shes not insulting me, shes just curious :)
- ¨I´ve heart your sister is very smart¨
- She really is I am very very proud of her :)
- When Katie´s sister, Lynn tells Katie all about how people may ignore her because of her ethnicity, Katie doesn´t understand why and asks Lynn all these question about why people wouldn´t want know her. Since she is younger she doesn´t understand many messed up things about the world yet so she sees things as more glorified than they really are.

- On Katie´s first day of school, her hair is a little messed up and two girls at school asked what happened to her. To Katie it just seems like they are curious and are just trying to get an answer out of her.
- hahaha
- ¨What happened to your hair?¨
- On Katie´s first day back at school her teacher makes a comment on how Katie´s sister seems to be very smart. Katie takes thing as her teacher complimenting her sisters known intelligence.
- Compared to you your sister seems very smart.
- While in reality instead of people just not saying hi or not seeing her, the people really don´t want to even be in relation to her. Maybe their parents told the to stay away from certain people or they learned from other friends.
- Instead of them just being curious, the two girls are really insulting Katie in a passive aggressive way. Since the girls are being sly and not straight forward Katie doesn´t understand what they are really trying to say. There seems to be a pattern with Katie and how she doesn´t really know how to interpret many things yet.
- Whilst instead her teacher is kind of comparing Katie to her sister. In the book it even states how the teacher has a dissapointed look on her face, meaning the teacher isn´t saying a sweet compliment.
