  • The Paleolithic Revolution, also known as “the old stone age” lasted about 1.2 million years. In that time period people hunted and gathered for food, and lived in caves for short periods of time because the group/tribe needed to move with a herd to survive.
  • The Neolithic Revolution, also called the new stone age, was the final stage of cultural evolution or technological development among prehistoric humans. It began around 8000 B.C.E. and lasted until about 3000 B.C.E. During this time, people learned how to domesticate animals, farm, and learned how to make permanent homes.
  • Animals including sheep, goats and cattle were domesticated. Goats and cattle provided milk and meat. Mules also helped by carrying heavy loads and pulling plows.
  • After the Neolithic Revolution there were more jobs. People specialized in different things. For example there were farmers, weavers, clothes makers, toolmakers, and traders.
  • The Neolithic Revolution was a very important period of history because during that time, our ancestors made a lot of big changes. Farming or agriculture, was one of these changes. In the Paleolithic Revolution people were nomadic hunter-gatherers. But with agriculture people stayed in one spot and made more food. But agriculture wasn’t the only big change. Migrating was also very important in human history. Without it around 7 billion people would all be living in Africa making it over populated. Some of the places that people settled in were in parts in Asia, Europe, the Americas, and different parts of Africa that before, were undiscovered.
  • Some long lasting impacts of the Neolithic Revolution is agriculture, domestication, having more jobs and more people specializing in other things, having permanent homes, and making more advanced tools. Of course there are more things that people accomplished during the Neolithic Revolution but those are the main ones. There were also some negatives about the Neolithic Revolution. Sense that animals were now more close to them many people would get unknown diseases and diseases would pass around the village quickly because everyone was so close. The Neolithic Revolution also started gender inequality, deforestation, and a less healthy lifestyle. But in the end, the Neolithic Revolution changed everything and it shaped how humans live to this day.
