- Herbert and Mr. White are playing chess by the fire in the living room of their house. Mrs. White is standing there watching them play chess. It is nighttime in England and it is very windy. They are waiting for someone to come to their house while they are playing chess.
- Climax
- After a while of playing chess, the Whites heard a knock on the door. The visitor had finally come. The man that had come is Sergeant-Major Morris. They had a conversation and then Mr. White asked about a monkey's paw that was talked about the other day. Then Mrs. White asks about it and the Sergeant says it's a bit of magic. So then they had a conversation about it and the Sergeant tries to convince Mr. White to throw it in the fire but the conflict is Mr. White is not sure what to do with the Monkey's Paw
- Falling Action
- My boy is back!
- So after thinking about it, Mr. White decides to make his first wish with the monkeys paw. He wishes for 200 pounds to pay for their houses mortgage. Then they were all quiet until Mr. and Mrs. White decided to go to bed. When they woke up in the morning, they had a conversation while eating breakfast. And then Herbert says to not use the money before he gets back from work. They had a laugh about that. A while later Mrs. White was watching a man just walking around outside their gate. Then the man opens the gate and comes up to the door. They let him in the house and he said he was asked to come from the place Herbert works at and Mrs. White starts freaking out. The man said Herbert was very hurt and that he got caught in machinery and died. As an apology, they received 200 pounds.
- Resolution
- About a week after their sons death, Mrs. White remembers about the monkeys paw. She demands Mr. White to go down to the basement and get the monkeys paw. It takes a lot of convincing but he finally agrees to get the monkeys paw and make the second wish. Soon after Mr. White wishes Herbert alive again, They hear a loud banging on the door. Mrs. White knows that it's Herbert and rushes to the door.
- I wish my son alive again.
- BANG,BANG,BANG
- After they hear the knocking on the door, Mrs. White goes to unlock the door. She is struggling to unlock the door. While she is, Mr White realizes that Herbert won't be the same. He will be all messed up and zombie like because of the way he died. That caused Mr. White to wish his son Herbert dead again while Mrs. White was still struggling to unlock the door.
- I wish my son dead again.
- BANG,BANG,BANG
- So Mr. White is trying to find the paw and when he does he wishes Herbert dead again. After that, the knocking stops. Then the door is opened and there is nothing there but cold wind.
- What? Why did the knocking stop?
